The pain of a lifetime when never equaling up to what God created you to be. Pride is represented by a life full of daily decisions to put our own personal thoughts, needs, and wants above the desires of God’s heart for us. This moment by moment decision to choose to follow your own flesh rather than follow the Creator of heaven and earth is the curse of modern day idolatry.
Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25: For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”
To give up and let go of our human will is a difficult task. The idea of submitting our carnal minds to the mind of Christ. The notion of submitting our fleshly will over to the heavenly will of our Father in heaven. This is the journey that so few are willing to accept as the only truth to this life. Modern idolatry has become common to us; our tendency is to take whatever the apple of our eye is at that very moment and begin making that one singular focus the dominant thing we allow to influence and then control our thoughts and actions. We as Americans become comfortable with idols in our lives: our TVs, our cars, the homes we live in, and even our families can become one. If you choose to place more importance on the things and people in your lives than you do on God, then that has become an idol, as harsh as that may sound
Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
To sum it up, The choice is simple. You can willingly surrender your free will over to God and he will make all things new.
