I just recently read something in my devotional that really hit home. I read that as people catch crabs that if you only have one crab that you have to have a lid on the basket you place the crab in. In fear that it will climb out. Yet, If you have two or more in the basket that you do not need a lid on the basket because the crabs will continually pull each other down when trying to get out of the basket.

The visual of this picture is seared into my mind, it reminds me what it is like when you keep sinful company. If you are a Christian and you keep company that is not Christ-Like, there is one of two options that happens. They become more like you or you become more like them. I am not saying that Jesus did not hang out with sinners, I am saying that sinners did not hang out with Jesus very long without becoming more like Jesus. My point and case, the rich young ruler that asked Jesus what he could do to get into Heaven, after Jesus answered the rich young ruler he walked away sorrowful. They did not start an on-going friendship with Jesus trying to persuade the rich young ruler of the error of his ways. The Truth is simple, if you have questions of you influencing people or being influenced, well you have your answer already. The author of confusion our enemy he does not have to convince you to be down right evil, he just has to place one sliver of doubt among your faith to have a place to grow roots of doubt. Another example to place in your mind. If you hang out with someone who has an extremely contagious cold what happens? They either become healthy like you or you catch the contagious cold like them. All too often we allow ourselves to be fooled by these little “half truths”. We disguise “half truths” in our carnal reasoning and logic for being a certain way and or being involved with specific activities with cherry picked scriptures to maintain our own sort of personal justification. Yet the fruits of our lives do not represent the entire word of God. The infallible Word Of God. The Word Of God does not return void. Narrow is the path, simple is the truth.

Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am among them.”

This morning in our prayer meeting, the Lord placed on my heart this eye opening idea. You either have your eyes fixed on our Heavenly Father with the “Fear of the Lord,” or you have your eyes fixed on the world with “fear of the world”. You are either concerned with showing awe and respect with your every thought, word, and deed to our Heavenly Father or you are worried about what does the world think about me with your every thought, word and deed. You can not have one eye on the world and one eye on Christ. There is a great spiritual awakening happening right, what great times to be in the presence of the Lord. With that comes grave responsibility to the believers as to the conditions that you choose to live your lives, you will give an account as to the way you lived your life. Your friends, your family and countless others that are in the shadows that are counting on you to live the life that God has created you live.

1 Kings 19:4 But he himself went a days journey into the wilderness and came and sat down under a broom tree. And he asked that he might die, saying , “It is enough now, O Lord, take away my life, for I am no better than my fathers”.
