Surrender: submission, yielding, relinquish, waive.
Lord, my prayer is that your words supernaturally join a spirit of consuming fire and victory to any and all who read this. Lord, that the beauty of the Truth births a new level of reality to the readers. That the calling that you have placed on my existence is being proportionally filled through the burning desire of these blogs, and specifically that this blog would ignite your work in the lives of others. – Amen
To say surrender means to give up, to give in and no longer continue to fight against whatever it is that you have chosen to fight against before the point of surrender. As well, surrender brings to mind the idea of giving over any and all possessions that are contrary to what you are surrendering to. I realize that all too often we aspiring “Christ-Like” followers get caught up in the same old trap of actually not truly surrendering everything. We forget that the Devil has no new tricks. We have to begin living victoriously in the new identity we are given once coming into God’s kingdom. There are two topics that I find obvious as tell-tale signs that we are falling back in to the snarls of the punk the devil.
1. Outwardly Sluggish- The Joy of the Lord is a consuming fire, the passion for finding your purpose is uncontrollable, you will be filled with such a burning desire to fulfill the calling that God has placed on your life that you will have to forsake all selfish desires to pursue Gods calling on your life or you will have to forsake God and fulfill your selfish desires. There will be a time of accountability where a person will be known by outwardly showing the fruits of inner true belief, or not. You will know them by their fruits.
2. Losing spiritual interest- I see this “cruise control” mentality all too often in our convenient Christianity mindset in America. That the idea that Christianity should cost you everything has become taboo. The idea that Christ is comparative to this wealthy long lost uncle that desires to just give us gifts. You will not receive gifts without an earnest desire to receive the giver. The spiritual interest I reference here includes a few of the following: When is the last time you prayed with a random stranger in public because the Holy Spirit prompted you to? When is the last time that you gave financially in such a way “that your left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing?” But Lord, Lord did we not cast out demons in your name? Get away from me, you workers of iniquity. It was all about you all along. It is such striking and sobering truth how blinded we can become as to what the real work that Christ has called us to do is. Does living your Christ-Like example glorify self, or the our Father who art in Heaven?
The counterfeit of obedience is a state of mind in which you create your own opportunities to sacrifice yourself for the acknowledgement of man when your enthusiasm and zeal are mistaken for discernment.
Deuteronomy 4:24 For the Lord your God is a consuming, a jealous God.
