Psalm 28:7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.
What is it? How do we define it? Where do you locate it? You know that same misery that you allow to take control of your emotions and spiritual state occasionally. You know that little piece of your identity that we conceal so well most of the time. The part of the time we allow this piece of pain from the past to paint our entire existence. How do we let this go? How do we not hold onto the past?
Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
As human we struggle with the idea of submitting and letting go. The strange thing is that the only thing God is asking that we let go of, is death. Yet, we in our carnal wisdom justify that we may need to hold onto death just to ensure that nobody can ever hurt us again. We hold on to our death and pull it out of the closet when we feel like having a random pity party. How can we call our selves Christ-Like when we allow ourselves to feel justified about living in offense. Jesus Christ himself in his last breath said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”. We do not have the right to live our lives being offended, because in that very moment we tell Jesus that his sacrifice was not enough. That his blood did not cover what has happened to us. We place our own life and self made problems above the Blood of the Lamb. We turn ourselves into an Idol and begin worshipping our own problems, and pain. Any thought or problem that takes more time in our minds than Christ does becomes idolatry.
In essence, get over yourself and give to God all the pain and problems that your holding on to. God will not take your pain and suffering away from you until you give it to him. This means that you no longer acknowledge that pain and suffering is a part of you. God will close the doors that no man can close, but you have to unlock that door and let him take control. Allow the veil to be lifted let his perfect work be complete in you.
Mark 12:30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
Lord, today I am confident and secure in my identity in you. I know that the enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy, but you have already made us victorious. Lord that I live in the freedom that your word promises me. No longer Father will I retreat back to the death of the old me that I left behind yesterday. That today is the beginning of a life more abundantly lived in the amazing grace of my Lord and savior. – Amen
