Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Servitude- The state of being a slave or completely subject to someone more powerful.
The more that I journey toward being Christ-Like the more that I realize that Love is the answer. Have you ever heard the acronym “K.I.S.S” (which stands for Keep it simple stupid) I was talking to a guy this morning and that acronym came to mind. This conversation sounded a bit like this “Brandon, why am I double minded?” He also said, why is this so hard for me? (Referencing living life out as a Christian) I told him you already know the answer. He said I do not need the answer, I need the solution! I have realized that I cannot tell anybody anything that they are not willing or ready to hear. These moments I often allow myself to sit in silence awkwardly just praying in the spirit, looking at these sorts of questions I receive with my quarter smile all the while knowing what the real problem is. He is stuck constantly concerned with what happens to the man in the mirror. What he really needs is someone to come and remove the mirror. To stop staring at himself everyday asking God to change what he has become. The Truth came to set us free of the person in the mirror. Then once we have been freed of that person we are to freely give away that which was given to us. So many people receive that gift then revert back to a cleaner version of who they once were. Love was demonstrated by the ultimate example Jesus himself. I commonly see people struggling with Love and how Love looks and appears. If you really Love someone you will show them by the manner in which you live your life day in and day out. That kind of authentic Love, most of the time will not equal the desired outcome that you have pictured in your mind. In your mind you have the idea that if you Love people they will Love you back. That if you treat people right, then you will be treated right. The hard truth is most of time people will not Love you back and people will not treat you right. I guess we could look at what happened to Jesus for showing people True Love. Is that what we should expect? Are we not loving people as we are called to, if people are not treating us the way they treated Jesus? Am I falling short in my pursuit of righteousness if I am more concerned with a friendship rather than being a true friend. A true friend is someone who in spite of how you will react tells you the truth. Love cares more about the person there loving, more than the person in the mirror. Love is sacrificial. Love is displayed as an offering on the Altar of life. Our comfort or fleshly concerns most of time will not fit into same sentence with actions associated with real Love. This path of Real Love is radical it is extreme. I have heard it called a “Narrow Path” and that few will enter. Lord, Lord didn’t we? Rings true to my ears when I picture that faithful day and so many as they attempt to recount there version of the Love they lived in this life.
Father, I am exclusively yours. I am completely in servitude to you. As your child, as a citizen of Heaven I thank you for your glory that surrounds those that pursue with all they are. I give my life as a sacrifice for your name sake. That your presence will be known through and those who choose the narrow path. Lord, please keep my loved ones in your hands. Bless and protect anoint and appoint angels concerning to guard in all there ways. I love you Lord, thank you for loving me so much that you sent your Son to bear my sin. Praise your name. – Amen
John 15:18-26 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. if they kept my word, they will also keep yours. 21 But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin, but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. 25 But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: ‘They hated me without a cause.’ 26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me. 27 And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.
